All Squared Graham Crow

All Squared is the first solo show by senior Tauranga artist Graham Crow at Toi Tauranga Art Gallery. Combining his inspiration from 20th Century greats Josef Albers and Piet Mondrian, Graham explores the many facets of the ‘square’ alongside his signature use of light and texture to create a new, inspiring suite of works that have never been shown before.

Taranaki-born and Maungatapu-based Graham Crow is renowned for his bold, dynamic use of colour, light, and surface. Trained early in portraiture and figurative drawing, his practice has since evolved into works that blur the boundary between painting and sculpture. Working from his studio overlooking Rangataua Bay, Crow draws inspiration from the natural environment and early exposure to groundbreaking ‘op art’. A senior Tauranga artist and past winner of the prestigious Miles Art Awards, he regularly judges local competitions, mentors emerging artists, and exhibits widely. His work is held in private collections throughout New Zealand.
