Old Friends From the Toi Tauranga Art Gallery Collection

Artists Mark Braunias, Edward Bullmore, Nigel Brown, Vanessa Reed, Robin White, Venetta Miles, Doreen McNeill and Betty Wishart 

The selection of artworks works exhibited in Old Friends represent and celebrate many of the early relationships forged between artists, donors and the Tauranga Art Gallery. They are a window into the permanent collection housed by our Gallery. Nigel Brown, Edward Bullmore and Robin White are all artists who lived in Tauranga in the days before there was a public art gallery. Their donations of artworks, now on show, were about recognising how necessary the development of a gallery was for a burgeoning city. This exhibition sees artworks come together like old friends, highlighting the importance of relationships in art spaces.
